The Secret Spy Mission

Hello Molly,

I think you have realised a way of gaining ideas for stories. I have seen many stories written based on movies and TV. It's not a matter of copying the story, it's just getting an idea and seeing where it leads.

Most places I go I have a notepad and pen with me just in case I have a story idea. When an idea comes, I write it down and keep it. It's too easy to forget ideas if we don't note then down. When I have the time to write, I look through the ideas and choose one or sometimes start on another idea.

What is my favourite of the stories I've written? I write two challenges a week mostly with a 100 words limit. Can you imagine one challenge asked me to write my autobiography (life story) in only six words? What did I write?

Seeking ways to make a difference.

It's now my motto (words I live by).

There are now over 190 stories in my writing blog. I'll share a recent one and it's picture. We were asked to use "ARGH, MATEY!" in a story of 100 plus the prompt words, 102 words. Some of the words are a little harder. All of my stories are G rated. There is a glossary (list of harder words and the meanings I meant in the story) at the end of this post. See what you think...

Captain Silver Beard Jones eyed his motley crew, “ARGH, MATEY!”

Audible sighs were heard.

“Today’s the day we separate the crew from plank walkers.”

Another sigh as one whispered, “I knew it! Another spelling test!”

The first few times the class had seen their teacher’s alter ego, they’d enjoyed the fun but they soon learned it was his way of breaking the tension when he intended giving a test. This time they were ready.

Captain Silver Beard Jones was shocked, “Everyone scored 100%.”

The class smiled at their bountiful plunder. Their teacher had forgotten to erase their spelling list from the board.

My favourite story overall was written in 2011. It is over 48,000 words and was called "Samuel Samantha". It tells of a boy who has unusual experiences with friends. Perhaps one day I will see if it can be published but, so far, only family has read it.

Writing allows us to create worlds and share them and their characters with others but I think you already know that. Keep writing! 🙂

      Dear Gage,

I know as the year goes on, students are able to start blogs so your time will come. I never start out to write long posts but it seems so many ideas come to mind and I want to share.

When you do start blogging, write about things you enjoy. 🙂

      Dear Molly,

I never know when something I read might lead to an extended comment. In your case, I wanted to share a short story and it’s picture. Comments on blogs don’t usually allow pictures so I write a quick post. 🙂

          Dear Molly,

Sometimes if I don’t have a photo of something, I’ll draw a picture to use. I wanted a pirate picture for the story so I quickly drew one, scanned it into the computer and added colour.

    Hello Ross + Molly,

Well done Molly with getting a post on Ross’ blog!

My story is about a girl and her horse. The girl learns that you can’t always stay on a horse. I think it is pretty good.

If you visit my blog the story is called “A Party Gone Wrong!”
Or I could publish the story in the comment:

    A Party Gone Wrong!

    (1) Tanniel woke up in shock and screamed. “Ahh it is my 10th birthday today!” It was the 19th of December right now…

    (2) She was playing all day until 1pm (Australia Time) when the party guests were at her farm. Her Mum and Dad bought her a horse named Smokey a couple days before the party so she could ride Smokey in front of her guest.

    (3) When she started riding Sm okey did a big buck and rear and she fell off and hit her head hard. Her Mum took her into her room and Tanneil was crying badly bit mostly embarrassed.

    (4) She stopped when her friends, Kayla, Lulu and Emily barged through the door. They asked her together “are you alright Tanneil?” Tanneil answered with “Yes, I am fine”. The girls sat down with her.

    (5) Tanniels guests were leaving all with bad faces. Kayla, Emily and Lulu were staying the freezing night.

    (6) Tanniel was smiling so the girls smiled too. They all went to bed!

    (7) Snoring came from Kayla’s mouth all night. Lulu and Emily but mostly Tanniel was not sleeping.

    (8) They woke up very early the next morning. They were going to watch Tanneil ride Smokey again. She fell off and got back on, she kept falling off but she suddenly didn’t fall off!

    (9) The girls left later on that day, and Tanneil kept riding. She fell, and fell, but always got back on the horse!

    (10) Many months later it was her birthday again. She does the same thing every year, which is riding Smokey in front of everyone.
When she turned 16 she got 3 massive presents such as a red Toyota, a new horse called Patches, and he was a lovely patch but her most favourite a new baby sister, Annis.
Smokey was now Annis horse and Patchy was a great member of the family, but everyday Annis and Tanneil go horse riding together, while Annis on Smokey and Tanneil on Patchy. The girls and there all there horses were close friends forever!

I also made a blurb that who commented could finish it off. Here it is:

At the start of the book Tanniel is __ years old. She gets a ___ named Smokey and when she starts riding in front of millions of people Smokey ____s and rears. Tanniel falls __ and cries allot. She keeps horse ____ until she gets it. Her friends Kayla, Lulu and Emily help her altogether.

    The blurbs words really mean:

At the start of the book Tanniel is 10 years old. She gets a horse named Smokey and when she starts riding in front of millions of people Smokey bucks and rears. Tanniel falls off and cries allot. She keeps horse riding until she gets it. Her friends Kayla, Lulu and Emily help her altogether.

Your story is very nice. 🙂

      Hello Jordi,

Poor Tanniel, a fall from a horse can be very serious.

I liked the line, “Snoring came from Kayla’s mouth all night.”

It can be hard sleeping if someone is snoring. 🙂

You chose an interesting name for the new baby. I had heard the name Annis before so I did a little research. It seems to come originally from Greek and means, satisfaction. With what had happened on the 16th, I think Tanniel would have felt satisfaction and Annis was a symbol of it.

      Well done! 🙂
