After seeing a comment from Jordi, I thought I'd add a special photo for both of you to share. It was taken around 1948 and shows the three horses on the old family dairy farm. They would pull the carts and plough and were friends of my mother when she was a teenager. They are from left to right, Bud, Darby and Duke.

This photo can only be used with written permission by me. Ava and Jordi mentioned on this blog are given permission to use this photo and share with friends.

Paris has now joined the Ponytastic Crew from 4KM and 4KJ. Paris may also use the contents of this post and share with friends.

Below is another addition to the post. I uploaded a short 20 second show jumping clip to my You Tube channel for the Ponytastic Crew to see. It can't be found by searching online. You need the link because it is unlisted. It shows an adult riding his horse at my local show held in January this year.

    Hi Ross Mannell,

Thank you so much for putting this wonderful post up for me and thanks for the great comment on my blog too.

Instead of replying to you my blog I’ll reply to you on your great blog.

Thanks for showing me your great photos of those wonderful horses. In that comment you wrote me earlier on if it’s okay can I show my friends this great post because they are horse crazy too.

I did put a lot of effort into my narrative because it was so fun to write and especially to imagine it too.

Infact I do know a lot about horses and ponies and I even go riding as well. I go to Wallington Park Equestrian Centre. I know you might think that Centre is spelt wrong but that’s jut how they spell it. I do Saturday school at Wallington Park and you get to look after the horse all by yourself unless you are sharing with another person which happens most of the time. At Saturday School you can either go the half day which is three hours or the full day which is a seven hours. I do the half day and you get to ride for an hour and a half. you do theory for an hour and you get the horses ready for half an hour. Saturday school is really fun!

I just want to say thank you so much for this post! It’s just “PONYTASTIC!”

    Ava

    Hello Ava,

The permission I gave you means you can also use my photos in blogs you do for friends or even print copies if you wish. I like to share what I do so I let schools and students use any of my photos where I give permission.

When I read your narrative, I knew you had worked hard on it. When we care about what we write, we are willing to spend more time making certain it is written well.

Schools in America and some other places might think ‘centre’ should be written as ‘center’ but Australia and New Zealand use the English spelling. I think you’ll find Mrs. Yollis and her class know we spell words the English way. 🙂

A quick check online and I can see Wallington Park is a first class equestrian facility. I noticed they even sell horses there and cater for Olympic standard riders. No wonder you enjoy going. 🙂

    Dear Ross Mannell + Ava,

    Nice post!

Ava is a amazing horse rider and is great on my horses. Ava most likely will go to the Olympics and I hope I will make it there.

Nice pictures that you’ve got Ross Mannell. I was looking in the tags and there is ” dressage, horses, Light Horse, show jumping “. At pony clubs you do dressage, show jumping and lots more!

I have a horse which is a REAL show off. He has Arab (a hot blood) in him so he lifts his tail up SO high. He can’t change though…

I have 3 horses together, one named Smokey, he is a Welsh Section A, and two Shetlands x Miniatures which always kick.

I really love this post and the pictures,
    Jordi

      Hello Jordi,

As soon as I saw Ava’s blog I knew she had a love for horses so I thought I’d share some photos. Considering you both love horses, I have added another photo to the post for the two of you. It was taken around 1948 and shows Bud, Darby and Duke, the horses on the old family dairy farm when my mother was a teenager. While others need written permission from me to use this photo, you will see under it you both have permission to use it and share the photo with friends.

        Hi Ross Mannell,

Thank you for the reply and the photo for Ava and I.

They are all pretty horses. My horses colour’s are:
Dasha a brown and white patch.
        Smokey a grey.
        Molly a black.

I’d have to put a thank you post on my blog for the picture!

        Thanks Ross Mannell again,

          Hello Jordi,

Horse events are a big part of our annual country show. Every year I add more photos to my collection and sometimes video clips. I may be preparing a cinema ad for the show at the end of the year. I know horses will be in it if I do. 🙂

There are also gymkhanas held . There are many around Australia who love horses so horse riding events are very popular.

            Hi Ross Mannell,

            Thank you for the reply!

I am going to a gymkhana in early August with my pony Smokey! He is a “Welsh Section A” but me have to put him in the Welsh Section D cause we have no papers for him!

            Hi Jordi,

I know how important papers can be. Thoroughbred horses have to be able to prove their lineage (links to other thoroughbreds). Not having the papers doesn’t stop us from owning beautiful horses. After looking at images of Welsh ponies, they are a strong and beautiful breed.

            Here was the link I used… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh_Pony_and_Cob

I hope Smokey does well at the gymkhana. 🙂

            Hi Ross Mannell,

            Thanks for the reply!

Yes I sure do hope he does go well but mostly I hope we have fun…

None of our horses have papers because the people we bought them off didn’t even no what horse papers are.

            Keep Blogging,
            Jordi

    Hi Ross Mannel,
I have to say first up- I L♥VE HORSES TOO! I always have and always will! I ride a pony called Jester. He is cheeky and a bit naughty but I l♥ve him to bits.

The horse photo’s are great! I especially like number. 2 number. 7 number 8 and number. 9. Can you see why I like those photo’s the most? Here’s a hint: The word starts with ‘J’. That’s all you get! 😀

All of them are great. I do like the chestnut (brown) ones a lot. OH! I need to tell you one more thing! I go to Wallington Park with Ava too. : http://www.wallingtonpark.com/ 🙂

    Got to gallop,
    Paris 😉 ♥ 😉

      Hello Paris,

I see you’ve joined the Ponytastic Crew. I think I know why you most liked photos 2, 7, 8, and 9. You will find I’ve added something else to the post. You can see a video clip I took in January this year. I think it has something in common with photos 2, 7, 8, and 9.

Did I guess your reason? 🙂

    Dear Ross,
hi! I was in 4KJ last year at Leopold Primary School. I’m so happy that this extended comment is about horses! Because I own three horses, well my family. I keep them Where Ava rides, because we don’t own enough land for them at home 🙁
I know Ava, Paris and Jordi through blogging, and we go to the same school.
(just saying, if you don’t believe me, check out my blog and in the background I’m jumping a horse at Wallington Park) http://brontesblog.global2.vic.edu.au/ (I can’t be bothered linking it right now, so there’s the address)

The third picture is EXACTLY like our dressage pony, I thought it was her for a second! But it has horse shoes on.

I can jump as high as the jump in the eighth photo (on horse back) minus on of the poles on top, I’m not good at jumping spreads. 🙁 But I can only jump up to 80cm on my pony because he’s small and young (sort of, and he’s a bit of a scardey cat)
    But still very safe.

    Well, I have to go!

      Hello Bronte,

There are a number of girls and boys in my area that share a passion for horses. When I wrote the post for Ava, Paris and Jordi, I had forgotten to include some photos taken earlier this year about a very active horse sport I was watching. While I am very busy working on DVDs for schools at this time, within a week or two I hope to write a post about it and share some photos with all of you. I think you might be interested. The two teams were aged around eleven or twelve.

    Dear Ross,
thank you for replying to me! 🙂

I think I might be interested, I’m eleven, so I’d fit in one of the age groups. Is it games, the sport they were playing? We just call it games, but it’s a lot more than just ‘games’
Or was it polo? Anyway, if it’s got something to do with horses, include me!

    Well, bye!

      Dear Bronte,

I know you’re curious so I will tell you. You may have already seen the sport played by adults and children (children have extra safety rules in their games).

The game is Polocrosse. It is similar to polo except, instead of mallets, they use lacrosse racquets. It was a fast action game. I was able to take some great action shots of the horses and players. I’ll share some once I can complete some DVD projects I’m working on for schools. It may take a week or two. 🙂

    Dear Ross,

YES! I LOVE that game! I played it a this special games night for horse riding. We did lots and lots different games, my favourite one was when we had to canter up to the barrels, dunk our heads in the water for the apple, give it to the horse, and wait for it to finish (so you’re in trouble if your horse is a slow eater! 😆 ) then lead the horse to this big bowl full of flower (with a couple lollies scattered through) And try find the lollies with our mouths! It was disgusting but fun!

We played polocrosse (mini verson) in the arena too!

      Dear Bronte,

Now I know you’re going to like the action photos. The local country show I help has races around barrels but not to dunk for apples and we definitely don’t have lollies in flour. Flour covered faces would make great photos.
