South American Spider Monkey (Ateles fusciceps) – for Alexis

Alexis wants to become a vet. I explained part of my degree was the study of animal behaviour, my fondest memories included spending some time studying the behaviour of South American spider monkeys at Sydney's Taronga Zoo. I wanted to share one of the photos taken about 40 years back. This photo is a scan of a 35mm slide.

Alexis, knowing you love animals, I thought I would share a video clip of an unusual friendship in Australia's Darling Downs Zoo. Honey and Kwanza are best friends. Kwanza's mother wasn't able to produce enough milk so Kwanza has been hand reared. As Kwanza has much growing to do, he won't be able to play with Honey much longer but what you can see is an amazing friendship. 🙂

This is not my video.
